History of MSCC

Originally established in 1989 as the Southern California Directors Council, which was comprised of management professionals in speech pathology, we evolved into a council to support the expansion and preservation of our profession and we became the Southern California Medical Speech Pathology Council. We have been made up of professionals in the field of speech pathology in Southern California with a special emphasis is on the medical setting. As we have continued to change and grow, we have received feedback that the council would benefit speech pathologists throughout the state of California.

As the council grew and progressed, we became the Medical Speech Pathology Council of California (MSCC).  Our mission is to provide affordable, relevant continuing education to medical speech-language pathologists.

MSCC members have many different titles:
Senior Therapist
Clinical Specialist
Executive Director
University Clinic Supervisor
Rehabilitation Director
Staff Therapist
Owner - Private Practice
Graduate/Undergraduate Student
Speech Pathology Assistant

Although we are a diverse group, we have a common focus that brings us together and has established us as leaders in our profession. That focus, to promote medical speech pathology, requires representation from as many programs interested in medical speech pathology as possible!
