Course Description
This course will address providing functional therapy interventions for neurologically impaired population from adolescents through adults. The session will focus on utilizing functional therapy approaches to achieve patient goals. Both assessment and intervention will be addressed.

This course is designed to provide techniques and ideas for therapists to customize treatment plans for brain injured patients to incorporate functional activities in any setting. An experiential exercise will be presented to attendees to provide a framework for the importance of individualizing treatment sessions as well as using relevant activities of interest to the patient. Functional goal writing will be presented as well as ideas for customizing functional treatment activities for patients regardless of age or setting.

Learning Objectives:
1.     Identify assessment components and therapeutic techniques to facilitate greater independence and goal achievement.
2.     Identify activities of personal relevance to the patient to achieve treatment goals and objectives.
3.     Describe treatment interventions with focus on functional activities.
4.     Describe how to customize a treatment plan based on individual interests and goals.
